English-Cream Dachshunds are rare because they must have real British Cream lineage. Many similar-haired Dachshund colors are often mistaken for English Creams

We have spent years and a lot of money to develop our program to produce luxurious, exquisite Longhair English Cream Miniature Dachshunds. Cream is a recessive gene, therefore dogs must inherit one copy of the relevant allele from each parent. All dog colors can “carry” one copy of the cream allele without showing that color. Most Dachshunds are CchCch, i.e. they are not cream and do not carry cream.

They are born almost black and as they grow most of, if not all of, their darkness will fade to a pale blonde color. Some will retain shading in their ears and tails. Creams will have black on their noses, eyeliner, mouths, and pads of their feet.

Cream Dachshund in question has a long and narrow head, with a friendly expression and a prominent brow. Their almond-shaped eyes are usually dark and expressive, and their ears are long and droopy, framing their face. They’re known for their smooth, silky coat, which is typically white or cream-colored, hence the name.

The American Cream Dachshunds may look similar to an authentic English Cream, but they are actually quite different. While they share a similar appearance, the American Cream has a very light Red Dilute coat, which is obtained by a different gene than the English Cream.
